NPIS Sorter -2nd Shift

Internal Applicant Requirements:

  • Must be full-time Butterball, LLC associate with at least six (6) months of service.

  • No more than 2 occurrences on record.
  • No disciplinary actions on record beyond a verbal warning

Position Summary:

Responsible for performing daily whole carcass examination activities as assigned to assure that the product is safe, wholesome, and meet stated requirements.

Pay Rate: scale according to service

Premium Rate: $1. 05 per hour

Essential Duties, Functions and responsibilities:

  • Continuously monitor product attributes to ensure that product wholesomeness is at required levels.
  • Some tasks are performed with the assistance of tools or other equipment while other tasks are performed by hand.
  • Observes equipment operation, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and/or safety issues/concerns.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to sorter s helper the proper carcass disposition per requirements.
  • May be required to rotate to various functions within the processing department.
  • Accountable to maintain punctual and regular attendance for scheduled work hours.
  • Must be able to pass required training test and complete testing every six (6) months to maintain position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 2 years knowledge/experience of poultry manufacturing processes and related equipment preferred.
  • Prior experience with 1st Processing strongly preferred.
  • Follows all safety, USDA, HACCP, SSOP, and GMP policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions & policies.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere as well as independently when needed.
  • Must be able to work at line speed upon completion of training period.
  • Must be willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a background check, drug screen and pre-employment physical.
  • Some positions may require the ability to read, write, and/or speak English.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing (8 hours a day or more).
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 30lbs.
  • Possible bending, stooping, twisting, and squatting.
  • Operating hand held and/or mechanical machinery.
  • Walking/climbing stairs. Repetitive gripping, grasping, and twisting using hands and wrists.
  • Working with scissors or knives.

Working Conditions/Department Description:

  • Department starts at 5:46 a. m. and works until processing is complete. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
  • There is mandatory seasonal work for approximately 5 to 6 weeks during the months of October and November, which includes working 7 days per week.
  • Job assignments are subject to the supervisor s discretion, and job duties may vary day-to-day depending on production needs.
  • May work in damp, cold, hot, and warm environments and some jobs work in seasonal outdoor conditions
  • Work with loud and noisy machinery.
  • Work with or around chemicals/fumes/pungent odors.
  • Working with animal organs.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
